So in case you were wondering what this is all about ...

My name is Adrian Dornan and I am a Software Engineer from Dublin, Ireland currently living in the San Francisco Bay Area. I have recently graduated from Dublin City University with a B.Sc. in Computer Applications. I have a strong passion for Software Development having worked with a wide range of technologies. I particularly enjoy solving interesting challanges regarding Big Data and automation. When I am not working on code I enjoy traveling, keeping fit, discovering new music and photography.

Projects

WikiTrends

Web application developed on the MEAN stack that idientifies what articles are trending on Wikipedia. Optimised to parse and store roughly 2 millions logs per hour.

ReadAssist

Android Application developed in Java allows the user to scan a piece of text and have it translated into a range of languages, read back aloud or save it to the cloud.

Haskell

First look into purely functional programming using Haskell. This program solves the balanced partition problem. Reading an array and printing two subsets.

SkyLads

At my time with Skylads I designed and optimised mySQL databases to handle data-intensive transactions reducing insert time by 30%. I was responsible fot implementing ETL across AWS and Google Cloud platforms pipelining data from S3 storage to BigQuery. I developed the backend Java platform that services all products with the correct data formats. I built REST calls to an external API, handling responses making them available to our own suite of products

BearingPoint

I developed a release record application to monitor builds and report on on our Continoius Intergration builds. I was responsible for setting up the continuous integration and build deployment using Jenkins server. I developed automated tests using Selenium WebDriver. I monitored code coverage of using Sonar and used this data to plan testing strategies. I participated in SCRUM/AGILE software development processes.

Greenpeace

I was responsible for recruiting new Greenpeace members by engaging with individuals on the street and educating them on current campaigns. I built rapport with members of the public. I presented logical reasoning on why that person should join. I remained highly energetic and positive throughout the day. I achieved weekly recruitment targets. I improved my social skills and became comfortable interacting with others.

Firefish Bar and Grill, Santa Cruz

I worked as part of a team in a busy seafront restaurant. I was responsible for management and delivery of meal orders and customer satisfaction.
